| Are property taxes in the Las Vegas area considerably lower because of the casino income? I know when gambling lobbyists come to different states they always cite lower taxes as a gambling pro. |

| No, casino taxes go for schools, roads, etc ......but have nothing to do with individual personal property taxes. |

| Any idea what the average property taxes are in Las Vegas or a way that I can find out? |

I think they are in line with the rest of the country and unless you have a specific property in mind, you won't be able to find out exactly what the costs are.
It depends on the house, the area it's in, the size of the property, etc.
Nevada doesn't have sales tax on food - that will save you some money! |

| I too would be quite interested to find out why insurance rates are higher in las vegas. Really do hope they're not too high! |

Car insurance is high in any city. Too many cars on two little road!
House insurance should be streamlined with other cities of that size. There's no particular dangers involved in Las Vegas that would cost home owners insurance to be high, but you do have to cover replacement cost of the structure.
The more expensive the house, the higher the insurance. |

Oh, also - the main reason car insurance is so high in Las Vegas is because so many people sue the insurance companies when they get into a fender bender.
The TV ads are full of lawyers who are trying to get you to call them after an accident. They sue the insurance company to get you more money - and everyone's rates go up.
There's a real racket going on there. |

| I have also heard there is no state income tax in Nevada- does anyone know if that's true? That would save quite a bit of money. |

No, again, gaming revenue pays for other things, like schools and roads. |
