| I agree with most of what you wrote, with the exception of the remodeling/decorating comment. Simple things like paint don't affect the value, but permanent additions to the house like additional living space, a pool or other built ins DO affect the value, just not on a one to one ratio of what you paid for them. If you had linoleum and replaced it with tile, your home's value will go up, just not a lot. It's better to do the things you want to do for you and enjoy it for a while. Doing it to sell the house is not smart. |
