Before you attend one of the many Las Vegas real estate schools, make sure that you are completely committed to becoming a realtor . Real estate is not for everyone.
It can be a lot tougher than it seems and that is not something that you will generally learn from the Las Vegas real estate schools. Many of the schools will tell you that they have a high success rate of students becoming qualified realtors.
But will these same Las Vegas real estate schools tell you how successful their graduates are in the business?
Real estate can be a difficult business to start in and if you're not one hundred percent committed you will fail. In every city in America, ten percent of certified agents do ninety percent of the business.
The real estate schools in Las Vegas prepare you to take the certification test, and hopefully prepare you to pass the test, but they drop you there. None of the Las Vegas real estate schools prepare you to succeed in real estate.
Many certified realtors that are currently successful in the business will probably tell you to find a brokerage to sign up with and see if you can follow along with another agent until you learn the ropes.
Choosing real estate as a profession can be costly. The Las Vegas schools' tuition is just the beginning. You can sometimes off set these tuition fees with a broker's help. If you agree to sign up with their company once your certification is complete, some brokerages will reimburse you for your schooling.
You will probably have to sign a contract ahead of time usually stating that if you do not complete your schooling or do not pass the test, that you will not be reimbursed. If you choose to go this route, you will also not be able to choose which of the Las Vegas real estate schools to attend.
Many brokers will request that you attend the school of their choice, usually one that directly works with that company. Of course, nothing in life is free. These brokerages generally take your schooling fees out of your first sale.
There are different options in Las Vegas real estate schools. You can attend classes with an instructor or you can take an online course if you choose. In either case, you must complete ninety hours of national and state real estate schooling. It is also greatly suggested that you study twice as long in order to pass the grueling real estate exams.
Finally, what you won't learn at the real estate schools is how much work this profession takes. It is not that much of a competition between agents, but rather a lesson in who is willing to work harder.
You have to be willing to show houses on the weekends or in the late evening often cutting into family or activity time. You must be willing to drop everything for a client, working on their time schedule not your. Las Vegas real estate schools won't tell you all of this because they simply want to receive their money.
Eighty-five percent of certified realtors drop out of the business within their first year. They are often not successful and cannot financially support themselves any longer. The Las Vegas real estate schools don't tell you this because they still want to earn the commission of all these hopeful, naive students.
